This year, 26 November 2018, marked the 10-year anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai attacks by the terror group, Lashkar-e-Taiba. Scores of articles recently ran on the attacks, the counter attack, and the rebuilding of the impacted hotels. Here is a list of suggested reading to remember what happened and apply methods to mitigate such violence:

“Mumbai attacks – 10 years on: Remembering the brutal terror strike that rocked the nation,” Moneycontrol News, 26 November 2018: Provides a quick recap of the attack and photographs from that day that emphasize the carnage and human tragedy.
“Mumbai attacks: Police officer VN Patil recalls how 26/11 operation at Taj hotel unfolded,” Times of India, 26 November 2018: A riveting interview with senior police officer Vishwas Nangare Patil, who entered the Taj Mahal hotel during the fight to try and mitigate the situation.
“How Ratan Tata rebuilt Taj Mahal Palace hotel after 26/11 attack,” Moneycontrol News, 27 November 2018: Provides an overview of the restoration of the Taj Mahal hotel. Physical restoration is pegged at $38 million in the article, but lost business, employee care funds, insurance, and associated costs are estimated at just over $100 million.
“26/11 Mumbai Attacks: 10 years gone, yet these horrifying photos from that day will leave you in terror,” Timesnownews.com, 26 November 2018: A montage of photos showing the attacks as they happened, including fire and explosions coming from the Taj Mahal and Oberoi hotels. Less attention is payed to the destruction at the Oberoi hotel, partly because of the incredibly dramatic scene at the Taj Mahal. The Oberoi, however, suffered scores of killed and wounded, and the destruction there ultimately ended up costing well over $80 million.
